About 0.5% of the population of the Riyadh Region lives in Shaqra Governorate, and their number is estimated at 46,403 people according to the 2022 Saudi census, and its area is 4,110 km².

Shaqra is distinguished by its historic urban identity, embodied in the heritage old town, which consists of palaces, walls, mosques, wells, and historic dams, including Al-Subai’i Palace, the residence of the founding king Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, as well as Al-Husseini Mosque, the Al-Jomaih House, Al-Humaidiyyah Well, and Wadi Al-Rimah Dam.

Shaqra Governorate has revitalized its tourism environment by restoring its architectural heritage, which flourishes in the city’s historic center.
